Dismiss Feelings. Repeat Facts.

Evident from the writing this had not been a great day last year. Those happen. Helpful to me on days like this is to try to dismiss feelings and replace them with facts, even if some of the facts are grimly serious – it’s not the actual circumstances that cause paralysis, but the feelings that follow. And generally if I repeat ALL the facts of my circumstances, even on a bad week, the list of things that are good overshadow the bad. That perspective is always encouraging.

I know, I know.. easier said than done, and I’m imperfect in applying this, but if it salvages a few days when I remember that’s a few less bad days. And by practicing the habit of repeating facts on regular not-bad days it becomes easier to get there on a day when the train has leapt the tracks.
